ROSE NOIR is the latest artistic evolution of one of music’s great creators. The producer is a two-time World Champion turntablist and helped to define one of electronic music’s hottest genres internationally. Two decades into his musical career comes his passion project, a cinematic jazz-funk funk alias inspired by 70s films and obscure music libraries. His fittingly titled debut EP Bloom arrives on October 28th on his own imprint Halfeti Records. The six-track effort showcases the producer's immense talent, mixing organic instrumentation with digital instruments for a sound that defies what’s possible from a single creator.

Opening the project with a sense of mystique comes ‘Brulure.’ The tension-building introduction truly sets the stage as instruments are layered in to enhance the allure. ‘Dusty’ builds upon the sound while taking a more laid-back approach. The bass and drums provide a steady pace as the brass and melodies move the track along with precise direction.

‘Hope’ is set to serve as the project’s main single and will be released on September 30th. The track feels like a breathtaking chase through a picturesque cityscape. Rich history melds with a thrilling sense of the unknown. Each bar serves as a new turning point in the three-minute adventure. The violins build anticipation while adding a regal feel. Piano and synthesizers are layered to add a hopeful and reflective break before things intensify once more. Elements are stripped away and re-added, providing the perfect progression for this cinematic epic. It’s an instrumental spy-thriller that is assured to captivate listeners and have them returning for more.

Showcasing the range of emotion held within the project, ‘Modele V’ embodies an upbeat aesthetic. The introduction starts with a darker reserved vibe that gradually opens up with time. Guitar riffs and shimmering keys impart a sunset-inspired sound into the track. It’s effortlessly approachable and easygoing without ever settling. The energy and elements are constantly evolving, exploring new forms and emotions throughout. ‘Modele V’ embodies the bittersweet beauty of the final nights of summer.

Bringing Bloom to a close comes ‘Flavour’ and ‘Nite and Days.’ The former is a dark yet inviting sound that will touch your soul. The latter serves as the perfect finale, mixing an effortlessly mellow backing with just the right touch of intrigue. Pensive yet relaxing, it’s a subtle yet impressive end.

“The music is definitely inspired by 70s movies, but also by obscure 70s libraries music vinyl which is what music supervisors were using as background music in movies, advertisements, TV shows etc…but also nowadays highly sought after by music enthusiasts and hip-hop producers looking for new materials to sample. I don’t have specific scenes in mind, but it’s like I’m trying to write the soundtrack of an imaginary suspense film from the past.”- ROSE NOIR
